You must use Xcode to package your extensions for testing in Safari.

Last experience with MacOS was brief ownership of a used Mac SE (system 7?) and a few attempts to help family members once or twice with basic problems on older versions of OS X. the Macs second monitor to duplicate the desktop monitor. It'll generate everything Apple, from an iPhone app down to a stdin/stdout Unix command line utility.

Me: professional SW engineer for 20 years working on Windows & Linux platforms, have used Linux almost exclusively for my personal computers since 1994 starting with Slackware (and currently maintain a headless Linux file-server at home and am very much a command line user), previous experience with HP-UX (way back in the v9 days) and SunOS (pre Solaris). It's a complete IDE, with interface builder, source-level debugger, etc. Is there a good "steep-learning-curve" introduction to OSX that helps get people who are very computer literate up to power-user level quickly, bypassing all of the "this is a mouse" and "this is a window" level introduction? Here's how to keep Jitouch running using launchd. I've found a lot of introductions, but they all treat the audience like complete computer newbies, even those that claim to be for people familiar with Windows. The process is often dead after the computer wakes up from sleep. I'm thinking of buying a rMBP to learn iOS development and want to get up to speed with OS X quickly so that it doesn't get in my way.
